Why do you want to be your own boss?

More money for yourself and family?
Financial independence from boyfriend and daddy?
Running away from idleness and boredom?
Wanting to be respected and admired as the role model for other girls?

WHY???

These are all good, in fact great motives to want to be your own boss.

They are all valid!

The question is; IS THAT ALL ABOUT STARTING A BUSINESS? Is that all about entrepreneurship to you? Is that all about female entrepreneurship?

If you starting a business to give you enough money to take care of self and family, that business would most probably die when you start making the money you need. The business dies but does not get rotten, for there are many dead businesses around which are not rotten yet. An example of a dead but not rotten business is that one at the junction which has been selling bon-bon and cigarettes for the past 5–10 years with no significant growth. STIFLED businesses. The goal of making money to cater for the family has been achieved so why the need for growth??

Before making a decision and venturing to starting the fashion business or the makeup studio or that NGO, ask the right questions, questions like;

1. What problem am I solving?

You should be able to fill in the blank space: “My business will solve…..

If you cannot answer the question, go back to the drawing board.

Your business has to solve a problem, it has to meet a need, because that is what determines the value of that business.

Cigarettes solve the problem of people who want to die before their time and don’t know what to do.

SheSkill’d solves the problem of girls not having the right skills to thrive in their immediate community and the society.

What problem are you solving???

2. What is your selling point? What is your Crazyvity factor??

What makes you stand out from the rest or are you a “me-too” business?

Your crazyvity factor can come from different areas of the business: Where is your product made? (Made in china vs made in Germany); What quality are you offering?; What process are you using? (baked vs fried fish pie); What is your price?

In essence, why should people buy your product(or service) and not the other?

3. Be Moses and answer the question God asked in Exodus 4:2

Your talent?

Your network of friends?

Your mentors?

What is is you have in your hand?

Use it to convince people as Moses used his staff to convince the Israelites he had been sent by God by turning it into a snake.

What is it you have in your hand?

Use it as Moses used his staff to open up the Red Sea to allow the Israelites escape suffering in Egypt. Use what you have in your hand to allow people escape the slavery of the problem you are trying to solve and get them to the promise land of betterment which your business provides.

What is it you have in your hand???

Now lets preach a little about the Gospel of Crazyvity

You should DREAM, and dream big. Dream not just for yourself but for others.

Dream knowing if your dreams are not created, many people would still be in the dark.

Dream beyond being financially independent of Johnny but of the girls in Ngoketunjia being financially independent of Zaddy and are living healthy lives.

Dream beyond taking care of just your family to dreaming of Anti Philo’s tomatoes which get rotten before she can sell them and take care of her own family.

Dream big and not for self.

Now let me ask you this question; 5 frogs are on a log and 3 decide to jump off. How many are left?

The answer, 5.

Why? Because deciding and doing are not the same thing. Take action and CREATE your dreams.

If you keep thinking of killing Paul Biya, does that actually kill him? Do something, VOTE!!!

One thing you should know is, life would always happen and things will always change, hence you must evolve. You must INNOVATE. You must constantly do things differently to make your dreams live longer than you.

Apple lives on but Steve Jobs died 7 years ago.

To end, I will leave you with 3 words

Dream. Create. Innovate.
